Inspection Planning

When working with small and mid-size operators, we often find a lack of knowledge about inspection requirements.  The regulations around tanks, piping, and pressure vessels can be complex, and the rules related to inspection planning are often not clearly defined.  Industry standards provide better definitions, but owners are left to wonder which standards to apply.

Through decades of working closely with regulators and applying inspection standards for clients, TSP has gained the experience needed to cut through the confusion.  We do this by providing a written inspection plan which is specific to each facility.  Our inspection plans look to federal, state, and local regulations, industry codes and standards, insurance requirements, corporate requirements, and other facility-specific documents to determine how best to inspect every asset.

Inspection plans are living documents which change as assets are added or retired and which get updated as inspections are completed and next inspections are planned.  Our inspection planning services include keeping inspection plans up to date.

Inspection Planning Basics:

  1. Identify which assets need to be inspected.
  2. Determine who is qualified to inspect those assets.
  3. Evaluate which NDE techniques are beneficial.
  4. Calculate when the next inspections are due.
